Advice from Faculty on Presenting

  • Always assume that the reviewers are fools and need everything explained. —Dave Eichmann
  • Tell them what you’re going to tell them. Tell them. Tell them what you told them. —Cliff Missen
  • Give your presentation first to someone with whom you share neither genes or saliva. Follow their advice. —Cliff Missen
  • My suggestions would be to write in clear English. If English isn’t your first language, have someone else read it before you submit. Lose the jargon. Don’t assume anything (as Dave has mentioned). Tell me why what you’re doing is important—or am I reading just another term paper? —Patricia Katopol
